About
Greetings, I'm Eren.
At the heart of my story, which runs from Turkey to France, there has always been the same feeling: the desire to understand. To understand people, societies, states, borders, identities and conflicts…
I studied political science at Sciences Po Paris and the Sorbonne, and I want to focus my career on geopolitics and security. French and English are an important part of my research and of my daily life. I am very drawn to Russian as well; for now I can read it and have a basic grasp of it. For me, geopolitics is not merely about states competing for power. It is also an effort to understand how the geography people live in, together with history, memory and identity, shapes politics.
KITA was born out of that curiosity.
KITA is an independent analysis project in which I look at geopolitical developments around the world in the light of their historical context, geographical realities and balances of power. With the compass point fixed on Ankara, I try to make sense of what is happening in the world, France and Europe first and foremost, from a vantage point in Turkey.
My aim is not to repeat the daily news cycle, but to explain clearly why something happened, how we got to this point and what might happen next.
In short, I am trying to understand the world; KITA is how I share what I have understood. Welcome to everyone who wants to understand the world of tomorrow.
With love and warmest wishes, stay well… Eren Gökdemir
